Postdoctoral Position at the European Brain Research Institute – Rome, Italy A Postdoctoral position is available immediately at the European Brain Research Institute in group of Alberto Bacci to study cellular physiology of cortical microcircuits (Marinelli et al. 2009, Nature Neurosci 12:1488; Marinelli et al. 2008, J. Neurosci. 28: 12532; Bacci et al. 2004 Nature 43:312-6; Bacci and Huguenard 2006 Neuron 49:119-30). Highly motivated candidates are encouraged to apply. Backgrounds in whole-cell electrophysiology and/or molecular biology are preferred but not pre-requisites. The research will focus on the cellular physiology of various elements of cortical microcircuits, the properties of their synaptic connections and their contribution to various network activities. We use a combination of acute slice electrophysiology, pharmacology, anatomy, immunocytochemistry, in vivo virus-mediated molecular manipulations, coupled to electrophysiology. For consideration, please send a CV, bibliography, a brief description of research experience and interest, and the names and email addresses of two references to a.bacci@ebri.it .
