Group Leader in Neurosciences

The European Neuroscience Institute in Göttingen (ENI-G) Germany, a partnership between the University Medical Center Göttingen and the Max-Planck-Society announces an opportunity for

Group Leader in Neurosciences

About us:
The ENI-G was established in 2000 to provide an outstanding environment for excellent young researchers. Successful applicants benefit from access to extensive state-of-the-art equipment, in-house expertise, top performing students and a generous start-up package. Group leaders are associated with the Max Planck Society and the University Medical Center Göttingen.

Unparalleled opportunities for scientific collaboration and interaction within the Göttingen Research Campus exist, including the University of Göttingen and its Medical School, three Max Planck Institutes (Biophysical Chemistry, Experimental Medicine, and Dynamics and Self Organization), the German Primate Center, the Cluster of Excellence “Nanoscale Microscopy and Molecular Physiology of the Brain (CNMPB)” and the Bernstein Center for Computational Neurocience. In addition to the excellent research environment that ENI-G provides, its independent group leaders can gain from the resources and funding efforts such as the Collaborative Research Centers (SFB) within the Göttingen Neuroscience community. The ENI-G also houses the exceptionally strong graduate program ‘IMPRS Neurosciences’, facilitating easy interactions with excellent students. Present groups explore a variety of topics, ranging from molecular and physiological to circuit level analysis, and computational as well as cognitive neuroscience in health and disease.

We accept applications from outstanding junior investigators who are enthusiastic about pursuing an independent research program in an environment that supports cutting edge research with an initial appointment for up to five years with tenure option. The successful candidate is expected to develop a vigorous research program and should have received a Ph.D. within the last five years, with relevant research training and a demonstrated record of excellence in research reflected by high-impact publications.

Interested candidates should submit their curriculum vitae with the 3-5 most significant publications indicated and a short statement of proposed research. While the ENI-G will provide well-equipped laboratory space and a start-up package, the successful candidate is expected to apply for major third-party funding; please find details about according funding opportunities and tenure options on our website.
