Post-doctoral position in Budapest/Hungary

The newly formed Lendulet Laboratory of Systems Neuroscience, Institute of Experimental Medicine, Hungarian Academy of Sciences is inviting applications for a postdoc position (PI: Balazs Hangya MD PhD).

Topic: The role of basal forebrain cholinergic and GABAergic projection systems in learning

Our goal is to determine the role of different basal forebrain cell types in learning. The basal forebrain gives rise to the central cholinergic neuromodulatory system, implicated in normal cognition as well as neurodegenerative dementias. We will be using chronic electrophysiology, optogenetics, high-throughput rodent behavior and disease models.

The group is funded by the Lendulet Programme of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Depending on experience remuneration is 315.000-415.000 HUF (equivalent of associate-full professor level on official scale) plus cover of incoming economy airfare. Optimal starting date is Sept. 1 2015. Initial appointment is for 10 months due to administrative constraints but can be extended up to a maximum of 5 years.

Postdoc candidates are required to have a Ph.D. degree. We are looking for candidates who are highly motivated, collaborative, reliable and able to work independently.

Inquiry for more information and applications (including CV, short statement of motivation and contact details of two references) should be sent to
