Post-doctoral position in Heidelberg/Germany

A 2-year postdoc position is available in the lab of Dr. Stefan Lechner at the Institute of Pharmacology at Heidelberg University. The Lechner lab utilizes in-vitro and in-vivo optogenetics to study the role of various functionally distinct subpopulations of peripheral sensory neurons in acute and pathological pain using electrophysiological techniques (extracellular recordings from peripheral nerves, patch-clamp from primary cultures and spinal cord slices), behavioral assays as well as molecular biology. As part of the newly established Collaborative Research Center (SFB 1158 – From nociception to chronic pain: Structure-function properties of neural pathways ant their reorganisation) we are investigating the role of so-called “silent” nociceptors in inflammatory pain. To strengthen our existing team we a looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious postdoctoral researcher with prior experience in patch-clamp recordings from brain- or spinal cord slice preparations. Additional experience in the field of pain research would be an asset.

Interested candidates should submit their application including a CV, a summary of previous research as well as the contact information of at least 2 referees to: [email protected]
