The Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience and Dementia Research (IKND) at the Otto-von-Guericke University of Magdeburg offers a position for a
Postdoc (f/m) in Functional Imaging of human memory.
The IKND is located within the newly built Magdeburg site of the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) with opportunities to closely collaborate with DZNE scientists. Imaging facilities include several research dedicated 3T MRIs and one 7T system, a truly simultaneous MR-PET system, a whole-head MEG and several EEG systems including mobile EEG.
We are looking for a highly talented, motivated, enthusiastic and ambitious researcher to coordinate to conduct functional imaging research on human memory collaborating with researchers at the IKND (Dr Emrah Duzel) and Google DeepMind (Dr Dharshan Kumaran), as well as the DZNE. The research projects will involve cutting edge functional imaging protocols at very high resolution with a focus on addressing fundamental questions in cognitive neuroscience across areas such as memory, high-level vision, decision-making.
Qualifications and experience:
Successful candidates hold an excellent PhD in psychology, neuroscience or medicine or other relevant discipline. Strong analytical skills, ability for independent and critical thinking, and excellent communication and writing skills in the English language are a prerequisite. Previous experience in carrying out behavioral and/or neuroimaging studies, and analyzing neuroimaging data is desirable. Knowledge of German is not a requirement.
Employment, payment and social benefits are determined by the Public Sector Collective Agreement (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst). Job location is Magdeburg, Germany with opportunities to travel to Google DeepMind in London and interact with the team based there. Common language at work is English.
